The upright that sets its own brush height, and gets it right
The Automatic X7 Premium is a 12-inch bagged upright with an electronic head that measures the carpet under it and sets the brush height on its own. Think of it as the automatic transmission of the SEBO line: you push, it shifts, and you stop thinking about pile height somewhere between the hallway runner and the living room. It is built for homes with a lot of carpet and more than one kind of it. We keep one on the showroom floor in white, graphite and the three pastels, and the color is the only thing that changes between the five SKUs.

Why we like it
- Automatic electronic height adjustment means the head is never set too low (bogging the motor) or too high (skimming the carpet), which is the mistake we see most often on manual machines.
- A 40-foot cord and a 1.4-gallon bag are sized for a whole floor of carpet on one outlet and several weeks between bag changes.
- The X7 Premium offers two brush roller modes, so a delicate wool rug and a hallway of traffic-worn synthetic get different treatment from the same head.
- S-class filtration is standard and a HEPA exhaust filter is available, which matters if someone in the house sneezes at the mention of a vacuum.
Think twice if
- If your house is mostly hard floor with a couple of rugs, the brush roller runs all the time on the X7, and a K3 with the parquet brush will treat your wood floors better.
- If you clean large open rooms with few chair legs to steer around, the 15-inch X8 covers the same floor in fewer passes for a little more money.
- If you would rather set the height yourself and skip the electronics, the Essential G4 has the same motor, cord and bag with a four-position dial.

Avon Vacuums is a SEBO Medalist dealer. SEBO's standard residential warranty on the X7 is 7 years on the motor, 5 years on non-wear parts and 5 years on labor. Buy it from a Medalist dealer and register it, and that becomes 10 years motor, 10 years non-wear parts and 7 years labor. Wear items (brush rollers, belts, bags and filters) are excluded. The X7 ships free to the contiguous U.S. since it is well over the $75 free-shipping line, and most orders ship within 2 to 3 business days. Returns are accepted within 30 days on factory-sealed, unused machines, with the buyer paying return shipping. Once the box is open, any problem is handled through SEBO's warranty with our help.
Questions customers ask us
Does the X7 have a bare-floor setting?
No. The powerhead stays engaged on the X7, and the brush roller cannot be switched off. The automatic head raises itself on hard floor, but it is still spinning, so if most of your house is wood or tile we would steer you to a canister with a parquet brush.
What does the automatic height adjustment actually do?
A sensor in the head reads the resistance of the floor and moves the brush roller up or down electronically. You hear it adjust when you cross from the rug to the carpet, and you never touch a dial.
How loud is it?
SEBO lists the X7 at 69 dBA, which is conversation-level in the next room and quiet for an upright with a 1300-watt motor.
Can I add HEPA filtration later?
Yes. The X7 ships with S-class filtration, and a HEPA exhaust filter is available as an upgrade for the same filter slot.
