Under the cover is a 6.6-inch two-stage tangential bypass motor making 663 air watts and 139 CFM, with cyclonic inverted-bag filtration in a 27-quart can that stands 39-7/8 inches tall. A utility valve on the front of the unit lets you plug a hose straight into it for cleaning the basement or the car. It runs on 120 volts at 14 amps.

What does cyclonic inverted-bag filtration mean?
The incoming air spins inside the can, heavy debris drops to the bottom, and the bag hanging inverted above it acts as a barrier filter for the fine dust. You empty the can; the bag stays.
Can it use a paper bag instead?
Yes. VacuMaid offers an optional stem that lets the SR46 run a sealed paper bag, so you can switch collection methods without changing units.
What is the utility valve for?
It is an inlet on the front of the unit. Plug a hose in there to clean the basement, workshop or garage without walking to a wall inlet.
